Halogenated compounds (Rbcgrbs)

Chemical compounds onto which a halogen (e.g., fluorine, chlorine, bromine, or iodine) has been attached. The more halogenated the compound (i.e., the more halogens attached to it), the more resistant it is to biodegradation. (Source: http://www.frtr.gov/matrix2/section2/2_4_1.html)
