Definition
Waterborne sediment which refers to material that is generally confined to fine earth, sand, or mud, but is sometimes broadened to include all material carried, including both suspended and bed load. Also, deposits of waterborne material, as in a reservoir, on a delta, or on overflowed lands. Or, rock fragments or mineral or detrital particles in the soil having a diameter of 0.002-0.05 millimeter or soil containing at least 80% silt and less than 12% clay. (Source: AASHTO Glossary)
