Hydraulic gradient (Rkwjg)

Definition
The slope of the hydraulic grade line; the slope of the water surface in uniform, open channel flow. The change in total head with a change in distance in a given direction. The direction is that which yields a maximum rate of decrease in head. The slope of the hydraulic gradeline through a channel reach or drainage structure. (Source: AASHTO Glossary)
