Roughness coefficient (Rkwr)

A roughness factor in the Kutter, Manning, Bazin, and other formulas expressing the character of a channel as it affects the friction slope of water flowing therein. Also, the estimated measure of texture at the perimeters of channels and conduits. Usually represented by the n value coefficient used in Manning's channel flow equation. Numerical measure of the frictional resistance to flow in a channel, as in the Manning or Strickler formulas. (Source: AASHTO Glossary)
