Stripping (Pavements) (Smfs)

Loss of pavement surface material involving the dislodging of aggregate particles and degradation of the bituminous binder. Also, the gradual disintegration from the surface downward by losing the surface aggregate particles. Larger-sized aggregates are more likely to be dislodged. (Source: AASHTO Glossary)
